 Project #9 - Milestone Projects This semester of learning Object Design was a great deal of fun. I enjoyed being introduced to a new 3D modelling software, Rhino, and be able to see how it would have very real practical applications to my practice immediately.  I did struggle a fair bit with this semester due to starting the year off with 2 large public art installations that took a great deal of my focus. Working with Blogger to express myself also came with a great deal of limitations and frustrations that left me feeling unable to express the way I would like and this has had a tangible impact on the quality, bulk and thoroughness of my posts. I love this model of creation journaling, I may just need to find a better medium that organizes content more like I see it in my brain. Along with the extra ciriculars this semester, I also lost my dad on Halloween which was really hard to deal with and required me to go above an beyond for my family which also effected my studies. ...

 Project #8 - 3D printed hollow form design - The Hybrid In this project, we individually explored the Rhino functionalities that we learned in class to create our own shapes and designs that could be printed without supports. After completing our own original designs, we teamed up with another class mate to critique the designs and explore some possible ways to merge our various designs while finally settling on a pair of designs that will get merged into a hybrid .  Project #7 - Hollow Form Object - Initial Concepts This was my first attempt to play with the concepts for this project. I decided to start with something a little more simple just to get a feel for the process and allow me to iterate other ideas to accomplish the criteria for this assignment. This one was created with a pair of perpendicular rectangles, extruded and twisted. For this second piece, I put more focus into playing with some form manipulation of the legs to this piece. I wanted to create some uneven wave forming and then played with a twist on the legs to ensure the wave forms could be printed properly without hanging to low. This piece was my favorite one to build. I used a 12 sided offset base with a little circle added to the tips. Did the full height extrude, 189 degree twist and then a couple stage taper to get the hour glass design.   Way-Finding Landmark Installation Upon starting University, I got to juggle the creation and installation of the Way-Finding Landmarks installation. This installation was presented at both, Night Light and IgNIGHT festivals in Calgary and Ft McMurray respectively. The goal with this was to create a public art piece that could be used in various formats to accommodate the specific needs of each event. Through this first stage of the build we proved the physical concept and are now going to dig more into the details of programming, control and interactivity of this piece. We have already received a CADA grant to build 7 more of these units and continue to expand on the idea of using these to creatively build a bridge between Neurotypical and Neurodivergent experiences by finding unique ways of express Neurodiverse experiences through the interactions of light.
